Even though all of the racing was rained out at Old Dominion Speedway there was still plenty of stuff to do before the rain came. The Tornados people were on hand bringing with them there custom Tornados Kitchen, they were cooking and giving away Tornados all afternoon. They also had the Ryan Newman #39 NASCAR Sprint Cup car on display for all to see.
Even with the rain coming before any of the race cars could hit the track for thier races there was one special event held, Joe Murphy and On The Run in conjunction with David Polenz Racing bought 10 bicycles to be awarded to 10 students from the Loch Lomond Elementry School a school for children with many needs (http://lochlomondes.schools.pwcs.edu/). Before the bicycles were given to the students there was a special bicycle race, five race car drivers from various divisions picked a bicycle and had a one lap race. The racers were David Polenz, Davey Callihan and Brandon Brown from the Late Models and Ryan Polenz and Tyler Hughes from the Legends Cars. The Event winner was Tyler Hughes and he was awarded a $50 gas card from Joe Murphy and On The Run. But the real winners were the 10 young boys and girls who were able to take home a brand new bicycle. The Loch Lomond School had an essay contest for K-5 students and the winners got a free night at the track with thier families and were awareded a bicycle.
