David doing his usual favorite fan activity sitting the kids in the race car to give them the feeling of being a NASCAR Driver!

Motor Mile 150

David took to the track for first practice in the Robert Bruce Racing 31 machine, with Randy Dean at the helm.  After last race in the Redline Power Rush 31 with a ghost problem causing the engine to shut off, the team worked hard since, rewiring the entire racecar, to prevent a reoccurring problem.  David did four, five lap runs, to try and get the car tuned in, making sure thE misfire was gone.  Sure enough it was, but the car was “very unstable” handling on entry to the corner.  After much thought, Randy Dean made the call to redo the alignment, which put David inside the top ten in the first practice. So far David and Randy have built a great relationship, and each time on the track they pick up speed.

Qualifying

The Eyes Of Determination Before Qualifying

Searching for speed, David had to make up a little bit of time in qualifying, as the race car was handling well, it wasn’t as fast on a three lap run.  David took the car to its best lap time of the day, but not quite enough for a top ten qualifying run, starting him on the outside of row seventh, 14th position.

150 Lap Event

David knew he had a long way to go to the front, so he began his charge immediately on the start of the race.  David took 3 cars on the outside, before the first caution came out and caused a complete restart.  David was disappointed that there was a caution, until he took the next green flag.  He took four cars in turn one and two on the outside, charging his way towards the front of the field.  He was getting into his rhythm and starting to reel the front pack cars in when David entered into turn one in a plume of smoke, as the motor pulling his Gazzu Energy 31 machine grenaded with no warning.  David made a whale of a save into turn one, where he slid sideways at 110 mph in his own trail of oil.  Eventually he got the racecar slowed down in turn two, and into pit road.  David was upset not just because of the motor blowing up, but he thought he had a chance at a solid top 5 finish.  David is having a rough season with luck, as he has been in great opportunities to run well and bad luck bites him again.  Next week we try to shake the bad luck at Old Dominion Speedway, and David goes for his 3rd win of the season, see you there!!
